Badlands National Park is a natural treasure. Whether you're into geology, archaeology, ecology, or photography, you could spend years experiencing this gem in western South Dakota.
After years of waiting I finally got the opportunity to visit Badlands National Park in April 2017. It is truly a breathtaking place - seemingly out of nowhere these spires and fins jut out of the surrounding plains - the name Badlands is perfectly fitting.
I was driving through the more remote western section of the park when I took this photograph as a thick layer of clouds was quickly moving in. There are few landscapes I appreciate more than the wide open expanses of the plains.
